2010 Scholarship Information

Scholarship Application Information

 

Criteria

To be eligible to participate, students must meet the following criteria:

 

1.       Applicant must meet graduation requirements outlined by the state college board.

2.       Must be a graduate of a high school in the Metro Jackson area.

3.       Have a grade point average of 3.00 or above on a 4.0 grading scale, or a 4.00 on a 5.00 grading scale.

4.       Have been actively involved in extra curricular and community activities.

5.       Have been accepted by Alcorn State University.

 

Application Procedures

By April 12, 2010 submit the following information to Mrs. Shirley Christian, 119 Hidden Heights, Ridgeland, MS 39157:

 

1.       Complete application form.

2.       Grade point average and test scores.

3.       A narrative stating your career and education aspirations.

4.       Official Transcript (Must include grades of senior year, the school’s seal and signed by authorized personnel).

 

Selection

Scholarship recipient will be selected by the Scholarship Committee.  Decision is based solely on academic excellence as indicated by test scores, grade point average, quality of written expression, student involvement, and in accordance with the criteria for the award.

 

Award Notification

The scholarship winner will be notified by April 29, 210.  The scholarship will be awarded directly to the student once proper documents have been received indicating that he/she has completed registration and is officially enrolled at Alcorn State University.
